Mission & Values

MISSION STATEMENT [REV. 5/9/08]

Movement for Aloha no ka Aina (MANA) is a movement-building organization, established to achieve independence and social justice through direct action, political education, economic development, international diplomacy, and public advocacy, with a cultural and spiritual foundation.

VALUES [REV. 5/9/08]

MANA follows in the history of Aloha ‘Āina in Hawaiʻi, and in the tradition of peoples throughout the world who struggle for liberation, freedom, and justice. We value kūʻē (resistance); kūkulu (creating alternatives); people power; collectivity; community; honesty and integrity; and fundamental human dignity. We believe that an Aloha ʻĀina must be “guided by great feelings of love.”

I learned about your organization in “An open letter to the US left from the Hawaiian soverignty movement” and will do whatever I can to support you in your struggle. I hold a special place in my heart for the islands and having travelled throughout SE Asia and becoming aprised of the plight of the indeigenous people there and on the US mainland I support your movement!

ALOHA!

If it was not for Hawai’i and the influence that the culture and the people had on my life, I would not be here today. I owe my life to Hawai’i and I will do what I can to see the day Hawai’i is free once again!

E ho’omaika’i i kea la’a kea me ke aloha mau loa.
